The grand entrance to the George IV guesthouse Brighton, opposite the ever-interesting West Pier

About Us

George IV is a period townhouse offering fantastic sea views across one of Brighton's finest squares. Sue and Steve are a period twosome providing a friendly and informal atmosphere. All three of us are in central Brighton - right by the shops, the Lanes and the conference facilities and directly opposite the ever-interesting West Pier. There are dozens of restaurants within a minutes' walk.

We have wonderful sea-view rooms, all warmly decorated and extremely spacious, including a balcony room which takes everyone's breath away. The rooms at the back are really nice too. The AA always compliment our housekeeping so the rooms are pretty immaculate, as well as being en-suite.

The lounge features a magnificent 50s jukebox which you are welcome to play at no charge if the mood takes you. There are books, newspapers and board games for guests who prefer quieter entertainment. The rooms have TVs with DVD players - a selection of DVDs is available to borrow. Finally, there's both a PC and wi-fi in reception if you want to catch up on emails.

We are one of the few guesthouses in Brighton to have a lift. Although usually reliable, it is mechanical and so has the potential to break down – therefore we prefer guests not to be totally reliant on it.

Environment

We try to put sustainability at the heart of what we do. We don't drive a car; our electricity comes from renewable sources (Ecotricity); etc etc. We try not to make too much fuss about it because we find it annoying when businesses just use the environment as a marketing strategy.
